Brynmawr Farm | Cow Hall | Hopesay Glebe Farm

Pentre Farm was converted to organic production over ten years ago. It is an upland farm with some river-side meadows. Two thirds of the pastures are rough grazing and woodland. The farmstead is medieval and the farm house lies by water meadows next to an ancient wood.

Lamb and mutton are produced from two flocks, Texel/Lleyn crossed sheep and rare breed Soay sheep. Sufficient hay is cut to feed the sheep through winter with supplementary organic concentrated feed bought in locally.

The care of the livestock and land is governed by organic standards but, in addition, the animals are identified individually and have large open acreages in which to roam. The importance of high quality meat is uppermost in the farming methods.
